May updates

A few updates for May...

May 7th- 3-D Biome dioramas Due
- students may work on these at home or bring in materials to work on in class.  Shoe boxes or platforms are needed.  Remind students that materials are to be used with purpose and nothing should be wasted or used for personal use.

May 8th- Class Photo Day

May 9th- Dress Rehearsal for Pod Sharing for school- please wear black pants, socks and shoes

May 10th- Pod 2 Sharing 6:30pm- please wear black pants, socks and shoes

May 18th- Pro-D day

May 21st- Victoria Day

MCQUEEN LAKE TRIP- forms were sent home today regarding our overnight trip to McQueen Lake in June.  Please read over carefully and email me if you have any questions.  I still need a couple volunteers for overnight.  Please let me know if this is possible for you.  Parents are more than welcome to come up for the day to support and participate.

Updates for April

Few Updates:
- Students are starting a Biome Science project
Group poster and Individual 3-D model

- "Earth Day" Week (April 16th-20th) - April 22nd is Earth Day.
Students will be participating in a couple of experiments dealing with plastic pollution.
- Please keep and bring in any plastic recycling all next week.
- Be aware of how you are packing your child's lunch. We will be challenged to have no waste lunches (meaning nothing going in the garbage)

- Math Quiz on Multiplication and Division on Friday, April 13th.
Please review basic facts (fact families and strategies)
eg. Fact family: 3 x 4 = 12, 4 x 3 = 12, 12 ⩫ 3 = 4, 12 ⩫ 4 = 3.
Facts up to 12x

- Pod 2 Share- save the date : Thursday, May 10th 6:30pm
Students need to bring in a white shirt ASAP

- Field Trip to Wildlife Park on Wednesday, April 18th.
In need of parent volunteers.
Permission forms coming home next week.

Homework:
Grade 4 students can always work on basic concepts.  The following is encouraged:

  • Study spelling words
  • Read outloud to gain expression and fluency
  • Study basic math concepts (adding, subtracting, multiplication, division)
  • Journal writing to work on neatness, page set up, letter formation and spacing, grammar and spelling
  • Unfinished work due to absence, using class time unwisely or just needed more time to complete (bright coloured form will be attached to unfinished work for parents to sign)
