With the warm weather and summer approaching please remind your child of some precautions after being outside:
- take rest and shade when feeling hot
- bring a water bottle to school and fill it up when necessary
- take deep breaths
- wear a hat
- sunscreen for face

May 20th- Victoria Day- no school
May 21st-May 23rd- rehearsal and prep for Pod 2 sharing
May 23rd- Pod 2 sharing- Harmonagon- A Mathematical Adventure 6:30pm in KSA GYM
May 28th - Field Trip to Kamloops Museum
June 5th-7th- McQueen Lake (early dismissal at noon on June 7th)

Wow, its hard to believe. Our focus for the rest of the term are as follows...
Math
- Geometry - angles, polygons, measurement, triangles, symmetry
- Fractions- ordering and comparing
- REVIEW - financial literacy, telling time, multiplication and division, adding and subtracting, word problems
Science
1. Plant Adaptations
- Research project on local plants and trees, and first nations plant uses (Google slides)
- McQueen Lake exploration and identifying plants
- invasive species- Peterson Creek hikes
2. Energy
- forms (motion, light, sound, thermal, elastic, chemical, magnetic, electrical, gravitational, and electrical)
- devices that transform energy- change input energy to output energy
- experiments and projects relating to wind energy
Social Studies
Exploration of Canada (focus on BC)
- Explorers (Mackenzie, Thompson, Fraser, Vancouver, Cook)
- HBC company (Fur Trade)
- Gold Rush and Railway
- Conflict and cooperation with First Nations
- History of Kamloops (What's in a name?- people who shaped our community)
- Field trip to Kamloops Museum
Language Arts
Creative Writing
- spelling
- use of quotation marks
- development of a story (characters, setting, conflict/solution)
- punctuation and grammar skills
- editing skills
Novel Study- Lemonade War
*may be some homework with novel study (reading chapters and answering questions or activities)*
- expression- read aloud

- summarizing and comprehension
- vocabulary words

Continue to work on our social and emotional well being.
