Wind Energy

The Law of Conservation of Energy - energy can not be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another, such as when electrical energy is changed into heat energy.

Students discovered that Wind Turbines convert wind energy into electrical energy, also a renewable resource.

We then made pin wheels and went out onto KSA grounds, explored which area created the most wind and where would be a good place to put a wind turbine.  Students were all engaged and focused for this activity.

Music Monday

Students are working on composing a short melody on the keyboard to represent a character from a book, movie, story, etc.

Some keyboard skills we are working on is:

  •  finger positions (1,2,3,4,5)
  • patterns of the keyboard (2 black keys, 3 black keys, ABCDEFGABCD...)
  •  major and minor sounds

What A WEEK!!!

Grade 4's had an amazing, positive and creative week!

Here are the Highlights:

Created Sun Pictures to look forward to Spring and Brighter Days

Explorer/Significant Person Presentations

Students worked so hard to finalize their presentations.  All gained confidence and were motivated to do well.

In Science we learned about Law of Conservation of Energy by making elastic powered boats.

On Wednesday we went for our Pod Walk (even though it snowed).  Ms. Schultz took us to Old Man's Cemetery and we had a mindful moment as she told us some stories and the neighbourhood plan to make the area better.

We participated in the KSA Green Wars in honour of St. Patricks Day.  The students really got into and it created a lot of postive energy in our class and around the school.

Lastly, we created funny Limerick Poems and shared them in the Courtyard on Friday.

Have an amazing Spring Break!!!
