BC Wildlife Park Field Trip

 What an amazing day to be outside and exploring and learning about native animals to the Grassland Biome.  Our workshop was great.  We got to see a Burrowing Owl and Gopher Snake.  Here are some highlights...

BLSC FieldTrip

 Today was a success!  We walked down the Big Little Science Centre and we were greeted by Susan.  She was happy to see us as they have not gotten a lot of visitors by schools.  We explored the hands on room and then had a workshop on Electricity and circuits.  Students explored how to make a motor run and a light bulb turn on in one circuit as well as Parallel Circuits.  So much fun!

Peterson Creek Walk with Pod 2

 Went for a big hike to Peterson Creek as a Pod!  We can see life coming back to the park, as Spring is well on its way.  Tried some blue trails too.

April Reminders

 Spring has Arrived and now we start to fill up our schedule with 

exciting activities and events.

March 31st - Dance Video Presentation.  Students are to wear dark colours (First Nations) or light colours (Explorers).  We are representing First Contacts in Canada.

April 1st- Egg Drop - this is optional.  Ms. Latta and Mr. Lloyd are organizing this event.  Please see the email that was sent out.

April 2nd and 5th- Easter Holidays- no school

April 7th- Recognition Day - we will be walking to Peterson Creek to participate in activities with Ms. Leanard

April 8th- Field Trip to Big Little Science Center to take part in an electrical lab. We will be walking down and busing back.  Orange Permission Forms were sent home today.

April 9th- In-term Reports sent home

April 15th- early dismissal for P/T Interviews

April 26th Pro-d Day- no school

Wind Energy

 The Law of Conservation of Energy - energy can not be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another, such as when electrical energy is changed into heat energy.

Students discovered that Wind Turbines convert wind energy into electrical energy, also a renewable resource.

We then made pin wheels and went out onto KSA grounds, explored which area created the most wind and where would be a good place to put a wind turbine.  Students were all engaged and focused for this activity.
