Our Week- September 30th-Oct. 2nd

We had an eventful week with Observing Orange Shirt Day and a trip to Peterson Creek.  Here are some highlights:

  • Students worked hard and learned about many nonfiction reading strategies during our NFRA on The Titanic
  • looked at place value of large numbers and how to say them, write them and expand them.
  • Orange Shirt day we discussed why every child matters and the hardships First Nations children felt at residential schools.  We made feathers with a word on how every child should feel at school.

  • Trip to Peterson Creek we collected fallen leaves and cones of trees in the park and then identified what tree they belonged to.  We also were mindful of poison ivy and park rules.

  • Read The Name Jar and discussed if we changed our name, would it have the same meaning of their given names.
